Let's Talk Ekitit, We All Have A Stake - Congressman Bimbo Daramola

My Dear Kinsmen and Women.

LET'S TALK EKITI.- We all have a stake.

In okun oo..

I write you this letter today inspired by contemporary realities and the indisputable fact that a future that is not painstakingly prepared for holds no promise, indeed nobody should have any expectations of an unprepared future.

Nothing happens by chance.

A society that is left to drift is susceptible to being seized and taken over by anybody  whose predilections will become the order no matter how irrational and we all will be duty-bound to abide by the dictates i.e  a fait accompli will be foisted on us.

This letter is coming at this time, ostensibly because in less than eight months from today, we would have a new administration that will take over from the present one and that marks another journey into the future, the future of our state and our people.

I am  uncomfortable with the  perception of Ekiti as a conquered territory and everyone seeming to accept this image.

The present administration has done its best and the jury is out there;  we await the verdict of posterity and the people.

While unmaking the past may be a great challenge, preparing for the future will seem to me a less complex task that can be accomplished with little effort.

Without doubt ,our dear state  with an estimated 2.3 million people need a clear direction and  clearly defined path  to  sustainable growth, development, stability and progress.

I will not want to bore you with the details lest my motive be subject of political colouration; interpretation and the nobility of my intention be marred in unnecessary controversies.

But in my mind and in the minds of several other discerning people , we are convinced that a greater Ekiti is possible.

But the fact remains that no greatness is  achieved as a product of wishful thinking.

If anything is working , there must be a  clear vision to pursue  and steady hands must be behind its actualisation.

It is the acknowledgement of these realities that  has  ignited my desire to take the  issues about our dear State and people to every Ekiti indigene, regardless of where they are on the face of God's earth.

I appreciate the great efforts of our politicians but the future of Ekiti and our dear people is so important to be left to politicians alone.

It is  time to widen  the base of the triangle by seeking  the involvement of all, because we all have a stake.

Ekiti belongs to us all.

There is a demand for conscious, concerted and target-specific efforts  and communal intervention in this regard.

Ekiti needs every one and all hands on the  deck now , just as we all need Ekiti even if only for the filial love for motherland and regard for our root and the future of the generations coming after us.

We owe it to them.

If we Abdicate, not only will we all live with collective guilt , the younger elements will not forgive us and most likely, they will revenge, but most importantly it is an invitation to ruination.

Our traditional prayer of "Ekiti a gbe a oo" can only be realised if we get our state to that place and position where everything works.

I have consequently resolved to embark on a sensitization drive and effort entititled "LET'S TALK EKITI- because we all have a stake".

In addition to this being a platform for citizenry engagement and participation by Ekiti sons and daughters within and without who may not be politicians or the apolitical ones, it is a medium for me to acquaint you, most respectfully, and share my vision  of  a greater Ekiti with everyone

My name is Congressman Bimbo Daramola, a former member, House of Representatives (2011-2015) and a gubernatorial hopeful on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the year 2018.

I have had a humble  political pedigree starting from 1999 and a modest public service record and private sector background as a banker; trained  as a geologist and holds a masters degree in business administration.

I believe strongly that the time to restore our pristine identity is now, and I am convinced that it will have to be a collective responsibility, with no Ekiti son or daughter left behind, because we have no  other state that we can call ours.

I therefore, most respectfully, crave the indulgence of all Ekiti indigenes residing in the different cities  in Nigeria  for an opportunity to meet with them starting with Lagos in  December,  2017  by the Grace of God.

We hope to  subsequently replicate same in Abuja, Portharcourt and other cities  before reaching out to our kith and kin in the diaspora.

The date for the events  and venues will be communicated accordingly.

Kindly send your e - mail  address  and mobile  number for a formal  invite and please tell a friend to tell another friend that Ekiti is the only state we have  and that we can safely own  and  call our own, safely too.

I look forward to meeting you at one of the events in your neighbourhood in the days ahead.

Thank you so much.

God bless you and God bless Ekiti State

Your Brother, friend and Son.
