Can Good Money Be Made From Painting? Painter Sarah Sanni Enlightens Us

Sarah Sanni
Having done a lot of entertainment exclusives, KINGGS BLOG decides to take a view at life on the art angle. i must confess how amazed i was to see the professionalism, and craftiness young painter Sarah Sanni puts into her works of art. i didn't want to see this alone, so i decided we do an exclusive interview with her, in this interview conducted by Micheal Irabor, painter Sarah, opened  up to us, about the possible challenges, and achievements of being a professional painter.
BRIEF INTRODUCTION.
My name is Sarah Sanni, 27 years old, I studied Computer Science at the University of Benin. I live in lagos.

HOW PAINTING STARTED.
I started drawing and painting from age 7 but stopped for a long while. I decided to pick up my brushes professionally about a year ago.

TAUGHT BY A PROFESSIONAL?
NO!!! I'd previously tried to work with a couple of artists and it didn't
work out well. So i started from scratch on my own.

THINGS I CONSIDER BEFORE PAINTING.
I consider the type of design I'd be putting on the wall, the area space of the wall, and the location.

KIND OF PAINTING I DO.
My major medium of painting is the wall- also known as Wall murals but I've done a few canvas works and few wood works as well.

HOW LONG HAVE I BEEN PAINTING?
Professionally, it's been about a year and 6 months now. But I can say I've been drawing since I was in my mother's womb.

WHY PAINTING?
First, it's a natural gift from God which became a hobby and finding out I could make money out of it made it become a career. Secondly, it's a getaway zone for me... away from the hustle & bustle and i blank out when I'm painting

WHAT I LOVE ABOUT PAINTING.
I love the fact that it's my comfort zone. I don't think twice about a job. I like the fact that I'm my own BOSS. I also love the attention!!! lol

WHAT I DON'T LIKE ABOUT PAINTING.
The fact that I finish a job faster than an average time- people think it's as simple as ABC- but the reverse is the case. And sometimes, clients' pricing is outrageous... you cannot quantify Art!

CHALLENGES I FACE.
HEIGHT! When I have to climb very high walls I cry sometimes. Then the fact that authentic art materials are not readily available in Nigeria...i have to always order online which could sometimes take months to get to me.

LIFE ASPIRATIONS.
I want to be the best female muralist in Nigeria, Africa and if possible, the world. I want to be that lady you call for anything on the wall no matter how difficult or simple it is. I want to be able to train (females) so they can learn to stand on their own.

NEXT 5 YEARS.
I see myself on CNN & BBC while I'm in my room with soft drink and popcorn...lol.
I see myself owning a large empire for wall art/murals (consisting: imported art materials, books, Paintings, and a training centre) both here in Nigeria and abroad.

ASIDE PAINTING.
I love fashion.. i guess if I wasn't a painter I might have been a fashionista.

WHAT I'LL SPEND MY FORTUNE ON.
I'll spend a fortune on charity for young girls and less privileged.
and of course for myself...I'd love to travel to countries like Italy, France, Spain, Egypt etc where there are rich art cultures and heritage. I love the good things of life- A PINK G-WAGON ISN'T A BAD LUXURY. wink!!!!
