People No Longer Take Me Seriously - Actor Kalu George
Kalu George is a young, talented, and good looking gentleman. He is a fast rising actor and producer whose name is gradually making waves in the Nigerian movie industry. On a movie location a week ago, he had a quick chat with KINGGS BLOG's MICHEAL IRABOR about his journey so far in the movie industry, and how people find it difficult to differentiate his life on, and offset. Can we meet you?
My name is Kalu George, am an Actor, and an upcoming film maker.
How did your career as an actor kickoff?
First, and foremost, Kalu George is a graduate of theatre, and media art, Specialized in film, and television studies. University of Port Harcourt. So it all started from school.
How many movies have you been featured in, and how many have you produced so far?
Green necklace would be the first self produced movie. I have worked with ndani TV, I did 'Gidi up' I also featured in '247' series,. 'The Scorned Help' with Van Vicker, Uncle Jude Kosoko, Aunt. Recheal Oniga and more. 'Unblissful', and my recent works is 'Dreamers'. Showing on African Magic urban, channel 153,every Sunday at 8pm.
Tell us about this green necklace movie you are presently working on
It Is a movie about some children whose parents got killed because they were accused of stealing gold from a goldmine owned by Mr Williams, a very wealthy man. The kids grew up and had only one motive, to seek revenge by all means.
How has acting affect your life offset?
People no longer take me seriously. In the sense that, I might be telling someone something very important, and the next thing that comes out of their mouth would be, 'Kalu please stop, you have started acting again. You are never serious' People find it difficult to differentiate my life onset, and offset. It is now hard for them to know when I am actually being real, and serious. And that's not helping. It gets me worried
Any aspirations?
I would like to be what I call a 'big filmmaker', one whose perfection in acting, producing, and directing would be known and appreciated all over the world.
From your secondary school days, through your university days and, till date, Was, or is there any female actress you ever fantasized having a night stand with?
(Laughs) First and foremost, I have always been a believer. So that's not something I should be nurturing. But I think I have actresses who I have always admired. There are some I just feel they are amazing at what they do(Acting) , nothing attached, there are some who are just beautiful for my liking. When it comes to beauty, I have always loved Nadia Buhari, not to marry her. Na my aunt be that. She is also a good actress. Yvonne Nelson would also be on the list. I don't understand why I am just naming Ghanaians. In Nigeria, that would be Genevieve Nnaji These ladies are all beautiful and also incredible actresses. Then when it comes to acting, i would go for Nse Ipke Etim. She has got good delivery. Her movie is one that I am always glad to watch.
What plan do you have for the Nigerian movie industry?
That would be, to make movies which would be Nigerian, but accepted internationally. To alsoo Make and tell good stories that will transform lives. Master pieces that will stand the test of time both locally and internationally.
If given a fortune, what would you spend it on?
Movies, classical movies
