Amanda Ebeye

Recently Micheal Irabor of Kinggs blog had a brief chat with Ghana's tallest film make, Samuel Bravo. And he told us about his most embarrassing moment in the movie industry.. Enjoy.

Tell us about yourself.
Samuel Bravo is a Ghanaian born Film Maker from the Eastern Part of Ghana.  6'7 ft tall. Known to be the tallest Film Maker in Africa. Selective, reserved, and smart.

What's your definition of a skilled role interpreter?
Nice question. As an Actor, you must be willing to please yourself before anyone and the moment you are satisfied with that you can be assured your fans will; thus, a skilled role interpretation comes to when you and your fans believe beyond all reasonable doubt that YES this actor pulled it out on this Role or scene or character.

How did your journey as an actor, all start?
Well as expected, it didn't start easily but I broke easily, swaying the filmmakers with my amusing height, and voice when I first went for an audition at Venus Films for the movie SINGLE 6. The judges were impressed and I got Casted for a role, after the audition, another director Kensteve Anuka called me and assured for a role in his movie the MAD DOG. Unfortunately for me, they were all shooting the same day and I was hoping to kill 2 birds with a stone which didn't pull off. I got to the set of Single 6 late and my role had been switched but I still played a part in Single 6. Disappointedly wasn't the role I expected. So yeah that was the warm up to the start, which saw me enrole to Venus Film workshop where I sharpened my skills.

Tell us about the first movie you were featured in.
Okay. My first movie was the MAD DOG. It wasn't a big role but it was on for me. Big respect to Frank Artus  who I was acting alongside then, helped me with my scripts. I got the director shouting at me, pretty embarrassing but at the long run he loved what I did and Casted me for another project MILLION DOLLAR BABY with Frank Artus, Nadia Buari, Martha Ankomah and Emmanuel  Amoabino, which was one great set aswell. I wasn't treated like a starter, Nadia Buari was super nice, we became buddies from there and yeah she helped me a lot.

What were the challenges you faced at the early stage of your career as an actor?
One of my biggest challenge was being in Eastern Region and Productions was in Accra; day in day out; transport. Mum didn't like the idea but sis was supportive. Sometimes I had to be a Gaffer or PA  on the set instead of being an actor. Had to build my own wardrobe to an expected standard. No financial support, I wasn't getting paid. So many reasons to give up but, one thing that kept me going was the Passion for the Job.

How far can you go at interpreting a role?
As far as the role has to be interpreted well without a doubt.  My body is showbiz and if it demands it, i am game.

What is that role you can't play in a movie?
I don't see any role I can not play.

How many movies have you featured in so far,and which was the most challenging?
Okay, I have featured in quiet a few that I can't count but my most challenging one is going to be released in November. shot in South Africa, Ghana and Holland.  A movie titled the First Born, where I played Satan. I had to sleep in a Coffin, read some ancient Greek words. Took me over 4 months to be in character.  Thus I was the only African Actor in it and played the lead. You won't believe the number of books I had to read. And the director. OMG The Patrick; he knows what he is about; thus if you must do it 30 times to get it right or even the whole day to get it right, you have to. I love that director. He brought out a spark in me and the crew Mindstorm. Just watch out.

What has been your greatest achievement so far?
My Greatest Achievement so far was in last year or 2 I suppose, when the author of The truth behind Micheal Jackson child molestation allegations book, Geraldine Hughes contacted me from the States to be one of the Producers to help put the book on a movie.  I find it very pleasing and great because I am still young for this recognition. Looking at the people who contacted me for this project Paul Gates, Ludacris, the Prince Williams etc. It's great for my name to be there as well, and as it is now customers of Amazon have me as their topic on this issue.  It's just fantastic.

Asides acting what else do you do?
I'm a Professional Script Writer, Casting director, Director and a Producer.

How do you cope with directing, and producing at the same time?
Well. I have not had all at a time yet but, I've been a creative director, a Co Producer and an Actor on one set before and it was stressful but I still managed to deal.

Tell us about your most embarrassing moment in the movie industry?
My most embarrassing moment.  Hmm!  That will be my sex scene with Nigerian Actress Amanda Ebeye.  Where she was to seduce me and I had to fall for the seduction. We got kissing and romancing, I was in boxers alone. Then things got real and I started getting a hard on which she noticed, and felt it. I got so embarrassed, and I had to tell the director to cut for me to use the bathroom. And OMG I couldn't get up. But dammnnn Amanda got me acting Un professional.  Lol.

Are you married, and how do you cope with your desperate female fans?
Am not married but am seeing someone and my girlfriend understands my career.  And about female fans, well I deal with them in a nice way just for my name not to be drag in the mud.
